Google Page Rank Update On 27th June 2011 – Some Websites Up, Some Down, Same Old Story

Google toolbar PR update is rolling today and here are some of the observations for this toolbar PR update:

It looks like that there is a new way of calculating PR with this update. I manage and watch many websites and I have rarely seen such a generous PR update before.

Websites who are involved in link selling and trading business have been hit in this Toolbar PageRank Update.

It’s important to note that Google PR update that changes the toolbar isn’t related to any present time search results ranking changes. It only reflects changes that have already happened in prior months. In other words, you are already either enjoying higher traffic or facing down the barrel of gun and feeling the heat, and one such morning like this, this all is confirmed in the shape of this tiny green bar update.

But not everyone is happy, this update after Panda has left many websmasters fuming, quoting one here:

My competitors don’t produce content, they scrape it and then buy links. Yet they’re +1. I produce unique content, acquire links naturally and wake up to -2.

It defies all logic. One post I made since the last update, received at least 15 PR5 links, which in itself is more than a new site my brother started, which now has a PR4.

I just don’t see the logic. When things become illogical, they become pointless. As there is nothing to aim for. What’s the point in continuing to produce great content that acquires links, when Google does #*$! like this.

I seriously feel deflated and demotivated. Defeated maybe.

Most websites which I manage were unaffected but one went down from PR5 to PR3 but traffic has not gone down on this particular website. Apart from this one domain, all other websites, more or less, are unaffected.
