Google Analytics
Here is what happened today!
I got this dreadful Analytics profile deletion email notification from Google:
Hello,
We want to alert you that the Google Analytics account “Profile Name” has been deleted by “account email”. Please tell non-Administrative users of this account that the account has been deleted.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
The Google Analytics Team
My ex-partner, tried to detach her administrator account from our joint Google Analytics account where we had shared access, when she removed Profiles assuming she was only detaching and removing her access, deleted the profiles and accidentally deleted all the websites associated with those profiles.
Although most of the websites which are lost are my own but some were the clinets’. One of the profiles included a very important client and when I contacted Google (and being Adwords account holder with the same account ID which I hoped might get me somewhere), got me nowhere!
I got an automated response from Google which stated that it was not possible to recover or restore deleted Analytics Profiles data.
This is a shocking news to say the least in this age and day that Google would not get your lost data even when you are an AdWords customer!
The only consolation that I can think right now is that it could have been lot worse! Fortunately, I had not added all of the websites on which I work in this account. I had kept most clients’ and company websites associated with their separate Analytics accounts and that precaution has saved me lot of remorse today.
I’m a sadder and a wiser man today!
Thank you Google for your screwed up standard operating procedures for Analytics!
