An events directory can earn commission when it sends qualified buyers to Ticketmaster, but affiliate income is not automatic. You need approval for the relevant programme, correct tracking, useful event discovery pages, and clear disclosure. PI Event Master handles the repetitive part by adding your configured affiliate identifier to ticket links for both live API events and imported events.
Understand the two accounts involved
Ticketmaster currently uses the Impact platform for affiliate agreements, reporting, tracking, and payments, while the Ticketmaster Developer Portal provides access to Discovery API content. Ticketmaster explains the relationship in its affiliate FAQ and provides an affiliate application page.
Approval is not guaranteed, and market availability, commission terms, attribution rules, and eligible sales can change. Review the contract shown in Impact for each market rather than relying on a generic commission figure.
Step 1: prepare a credible events property
Affiliate applications are stronger when the site already serves a distinct audience. A focused city guide, venue directory, sports calendar, music discovery site, or travel-events resource is more compelling than a thin feed of copied cards. Before applying, publish useful navigation, an About page, a privacy policy, contact details, and an affiliate disclosure.
Step 2: apply and complete onboarding
- Apply through Ticketmaster’s global affiliate sign-up route or locate Ticketmaster in the Impact Marketplace.
- Describe your audience, markets, traffic sources, and the event discovery experience you are building.
- After approval, complete the relevant market contracts and obtain the publisher or affiliate identifier provided during onboarding.
- Follow Ticketmaster’s onboarding guidance for linking your Impact publisher identity with your developer account where applicable.
Do not confuse the Ticketmaster Discovery API Consumer Key with the affiliate identifier. The API key authenticates requests; the affiliate identifier attributes eligible sales.
Step 3: add the affiliate ID to PI Event Master
In WordPress, open Settings → PI Event Master → API Config. Enter the approved value in Ticketmaster Affiliate ID and save. In plugin version 1.8.14, the configured value is added to “Get Tickets” destinations for both live API listings and imported event posts using the tracking parameter supported by the plugin.
Step 4: verify tracking before promoting
- Open one live event listing and inspect its Get Tickets destination.
- Open one imported event and repeat the check.
- Confirm that the affiliate value is present and that the destination still opens the correct event.
- Use the testing procedure supplied in your affiliate onboarding documentation before launching paid or high-volume promotion.
Never append multiple competing tracking formats to the same URL. If Ticketmaster or Impact gives you market-specific wrapping instructions that differ from the plugin’s simple affiliate parameter, follow the current programme instructions and confirm the required integration with support.
Create pages that generate buying intent
Commission follows completed sales, not page views. Organise event discovery around real decisions:
- events in a city this weekend;
- concerts near a ZIP code;
- family events during school holidays;
- upcoming fixtures for a team;
- venue guides with transport and accessibility information;
- artist and genre pages with related events.
Use clear ticket buttons without disguising the destination. Add original context, keep dates accurate, and remove or redirect expired listings according to your archive policy.
Disclose the commercial relationship
Place an understandable affiliate disclosure near monetised content and maintain a full disclosure page. A simple statement can explain that your site may earn a commission when visitors purchase through qualifying links, without changing the customer’s price. Requirements differ by jurisdiction, so treat this as a publishing practice—not legal advice.
Measure what matters
Compare outbound ticket clicks, event type, city page, device, and completed sales reported by the affiliate platform. Improve pages that generate high-intent clicks, not merely impressions. Caching keeps popular listing pages fast, while imported posts and first-view auto-import can create durable entry points from search. Used together, those features turn PI Event Master into a discovery funnel rather than a passive event feed.
