Sometime back, I started using Chrome extensively and One of things that I could not fix for some time was its Google search engine country specific search results.
Although I did update it in the Options panel for the default engine, but it continued to show me Google.com.pk for all the search results. Today when I got sick and tired of seeing the country specific search results page, I finally decided to dig deep and resolve this issue.
In Chrome, the country-specific Google search is set as the default search engine for the Google Chrome from the address bar. Country specific Google results do not always match with those of global Google.com results. In some scenario, it can be very useful but for me, it was totally useless.
To resolve this:
1. Open Chrome, click on the wrench icon on the far right and go to “Options”
2. Click the “Manage Search Engines” and in the popup screen, Under Other search engines at the bottom of this screen, add another search engine as Google.com, add * in the second field and add google.com in the third URL field, add http://google.com/search?q=%s
Make this new entry your Default search engine. That’s it.
Cheers!
I always recommend the old /ncr at the end of the url to turn off country specific Google sites.
