Members should not have to hunt through a website after signing in. A good portal gives each person a clear starting point for profile information, events, education, groups, directories, and protected resources.
PI WP Suite for MemberClicks Professional includes a guided Member Portal workflow. Standard provides core portal pages. Business and Developer unlock the complete managed portal and all ten page experiences.
What the Portal Wizard Creates
Open PI WP Suite → Member Portal → Settings.
The guided setup can create dedicated WordPress pages for:
- Dashboard
- Login
- My Profile
- My Events
- Groups
- Member Directory
- Education & Credits
- Organizations
- Registration
- Access Library
These are managed portal pages, not ordinary blank pages containing a loose collection of shortcodes. The plugin supplies the page experience and renders the selected modules through its portal templates.
Start With the Default Template
Every portal section includes three layout choices:
- Standard for a clean, balanced presentation.
- Spotlight for a stronger heading and featured-content area.
- Sidebar for navigation or supplementary member information alongside the primary content.
The Standard template is selected initially, so administrators can create a usable portal without designing every page first.
Use Spotlight for a dashboard or education page that needs a prominent status message. Use Sidebar when members need persistent navigation between portal sections.
Configure the Dashboard First
The Dashboard is the member’s home after login. It can combine several modules:
- Membership details
- Registered events
- Education and credit summary
- Upcoming events
- Groups
- Directory access
- Role-aware WordPress resources
Only enable modules that help members take a useful next step. A crowded dashboard is less effective than one showing four or five high-value actions.
A practical starting dashboard might contain:
- Membership status and renewal information
- Next registered event
- Education credits
- Access Library links
- Profile shortcut
Choose the Destination of Each Page
The portal workflow favors creating new pages for each managed section. This prevents an administrator from assigning a complex portal experience to an unrelated WordPress page and expecting existing page content to remain.
For every wizard step:
- Review the page purpose.
- Choose a template.
- Select the modules or fields.
- Review the live preview.
- Create or update the managed draft.
- Continue to the next section.
The wizard finishes with a review and save step so the administrator can confirm the full portal structure.
Set the Global Portal Palette
The global palette creates a consistent member experience across all portal pages. Set:
- Primary accent
- Background
- Surface or card color
- Text color
- Border color
Section-level design controls can then refine individual pages without rebuilding the entire portal.
Developer also includes custom portal CSS and downloadable JSON configuration export. Export the configuration before major design changes so it can be restored or transferred safely.
Configure Each Member Experience
My Profile
Business shows the selected profile fields in a read-only view. Developer can add controlled editing when API writes are enabled and the administrator has explicitly selected editable fields.
My Events
This page shows events associated with the signed-in member’s Profile ID. Administrators choose supported statuses such as Registered, Attended, or Waitlisted.
Education & Credits
Display supported continuing-education records, credits, and certificates. Developer can connect supported LMS completion workflows back to MemberClicks when the API client and organization configuration permit writes.
Groups
Display groups returned for the connected account. Cache settings determine how frequently the listing is refreshed.
Directory and Organizations
Business and Developer can expose searchable member and organization experiences using the selected directory fields and privacy settings.
Access Library
Create role-aware links to WordPress pages, courses, downloads, and member resources. Members see only the resources available to their mapped WordPress roles.
Preview Before Publishing
Each section places configuration on the left and a preview on the right. Use the preview to check:
- Heading and introductory copy
- Template choice
- Card density
- Colors
- Enabled modules
- Empty-state behavior
Then use the preview link to open the actual rendered page. Test it while signed in as members with different roles.
