Map MemberClicks Profile Data, Groups, and Member Types to WordPress using PI WP Suite Plugin

Member data is useful only when WordPress understands what it means. A member type may determine access to training. A chapter group may unlock regional resources. A status may determine whether the account is allowed to enter protected content.

The Member Data & Roles workspace connects those MemberClicks values to WordPress deliberately.

Metadata discovery and visual role mapping require Business or Developer.

Discovery Is Specific to Each MC Professional Account

Open PI WP Suite → Member Data & Roles → Member Access & Roles.

Click Discover this account’s metadata. After the first successful discovery, the button becomes Refresh this account’s metadata.

The plugin retrieves supported:

• Groups
• Member types
• Member statuses
• Profile attributes
• Countries where required by forms

No sample organization data is bundled. If one association uses “Northern Chapter” and another uses “Clinical Fellows,” each sees only the values available to its configured MC Professional organization.

The page records the source organization, discovery time, and counts. This makes it easier to recognize stale or incorrectly connected data.

What to Check When Discovery Is Empty

If discovery reports zero groups or member types:

1. Confirm the organization ID under API Settings.
2. Run Test API again.
3. Confirm the API client has the required read scope.
4. Run Profile Attribute Check.
5. Review Profile Owner Attribute Security in MC Professional.

Authentication can work while profile attributes remain hidden. A successful token alone does not guarantee that groups, member types, or email are readable.

Map MemberClicks Values to WordPress Roles

The visual mapping table lists discovered MemberClicks values and available WordPress roles.

For each group or member type:

1. Choose the WordPress role that represents its access.
2. Save the mapping.
3. Test with an actual member in that group or type.

Explicit mappings take priority over automatic name matching.

WordPress roles should describe access, not merely repeat every possible MemberClicks label. For example:

• professional_member
• student_member
• chapter_leader
• education_manager

Use a trusted role editor plugin when you need to create or adjust WordPress roles and capabilities. Then return to PI WP Suite and map the discovered values.

Decide How Roles Are Assigned During Login

Open Member Sync & Access → Member Login & Sync.

Choose the role source:

• A fixed WordPress role
• MemberClicks group mapping
• Member type mapping

When a member signs in, the plugin creates or updates the WordPress user and applies the configured mapping.

Developer adds lifecycle automation that can grant or remove roles when supported group, type, or status values change. Reconciliation can run during login and on a scheduled basis.

Select Profile Fields by Purpose

Do not treat all attributes as one list. The plugin separates field purposes.

Fields Shown in My Profile

These appear in the member’s read-only profile page. Business and Developer can configure them.

Member-Editable Fields

These appear in the Developer profile-editing form. A new installation selects none by default. Administrators must intentionally add every editable field.

Registration Fields

These appear in the Developer registration or application form. Keep this list focused on information genuinely needed for a new application.

The ordered field pickers let administrators add, remove, and reorder attributes while using friendly labels.

Use Type-Aware Fields

Developer understands supported attribute types, including:

• Text
• Email
• Date
• Single choice
• Multiple choice
• Country or structured options where available

This avoids displaying every value as an unrestricted text box.

Before enabling writes, confirm the API client’s write scope and use the write-readiness checks. Approval mode is recommended for initial deployment.

Connect Roles to Restricted Content

Open Restrict Content to protect:

• A new draft page
• An existing page
• Logged-in member content
• Role-specific content

A member can then sign in with MemberClicks, receive the mapped WordPress role, and see only the content permitted for that role.

The Access Library uses the same role model to show relevant courses, downloads, documents, or member links from the portal.

Safe Mapping Checklist

• Discover metadata from the correct organization
• Create only the WordPress roles you need
• Map real account values
• Select read-only fields first
• Leave editable fields empty until write testing is complete
• Test active, expired, and differently grouped members
• Document which role controls each resource

This approach keeps MC Professional authoritative while allowing WordPress to deliver precise member access.
